KIMS Resident Doctors Turn Tea Vendors to Demand Stipend Hike
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: Resident doctors affiliated with the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) have been on an indefinite strike since August 12, demanding a hike in their stipends. To draw the government’s attention, they staged a unique protest by selling tea at Rani Chennamma Circle. The junior doctors, who are the backbone of the medical college and its associated institutions, highlighted their plight by selling tea not only at the circle but also within the KIMS premises. They have been abstaining from non-emergency work as part of their protest.
The doctors have vowed that they would intensify their protest and said that they would not backoff until their demands are met. Because of the protest, service at Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals are hampering. The state government should look into their demands and fulfill it at the earliest, said a doctor requesting anonymity.
